Meet Kalle

Kalle

Hi all! I’m so glad you are here! I am the mom of two fabulous daughters, Emerson & Elliot and the wife of an airline pilot, Tony. The joke among airline families is that things go wrong only when the pilot is on a trip. So far, I have to say it’s mostly true. I especially don’t like kitchen plumbing issues or dealing with cat-size centipedes (it might have been a little smaller). I am particularly talented in carpet stain removal and doing laundry while asleep (seriously)!
In my free time, I love to do crafty stuff! I have the best time messing around in our garage, exploring power tools, woodworking, learning how to oil paint (thanks Bob Ross!), sketching, and starting (but not finishing!) hundreds of random projects! My silly husband thinks that garages are supposed to be for vehicles, but I disagree! That’s where the magic happens! Glass-fusing and painting pottery are also some of my favorite activities.

I earned my degree in Fine Art/Architecture at Portland State University and then worked for over 12 years at an architectural firm as a Drafter/Designer and Proposal Writer. I LOVED it! I worked on schools, jails, fire stations, police stations, homes, and churches.

In 2017 I was unfortunately diagnosed with Narcolepsy (a sleeping disorder) and eventually had to “retire” from my dream career while making a lot of changes to my everyday life.

As devastated as I was by this diagnosis, I realized that we simply cannot control everything in our lives but we can control how we respond! I have been grateful to spend so much special time with my family and I’m extra grateful to now spend it with YOU!

This disease certainly makes me a bit “quirky” sometimes, but I’m not shy about talking about it and welcome questions anytime! Honestly, I didn’t even know what Narcolepsy was until my Doctor told me about it! It doesn’t own me or define me, it just adds a little extra seasoning to what makes me who I am.

No matter who you are, or what you are going through, I’m so glad you’re here! Being a kid is TOUGH! Being an adult is TOUGH! We are all trying to figure out who we are and our place in the world! It is the difficult times that give us the chance to shine!

Please know, that I’ll take you for exactly who you are right now! Don’t change a thing! You are perfectly imperfect and I am perfectly imperfect too! 😊

It’s amazing how good it will make you feel when you do something kind for someone else. I hope that the Kindness Club inspires you to explore your creative self (flaws and all!) while bringing joy to others.

Welcome to our club!
